Vista add remove proghrams

Actually, scratch that. Pre vista, I have never found the new style control panel to be useful — in fact, it has been a flat out impediment to getting anything done, so even before turning off that dang "click" noise, I change the control panel mode first hey, gotta, to get to the sounds control applet, or it would be second. It is all about driving feature adoption. This demonstrates how hard it is to do anything right for software manufacturers.

Searching the control panel works really great imho. Archived Forums. Windows SteadyState. Sign in to vote. However in Windows Vista the "Add or remove programs" button in the toolbar of the explorer is still here, and even if the user doesn't have enough priviledges to remove applications, I would like to hide or disable it. So I investigated in group policies and I finally found what I needed : User Configuration — Administrative Templates — Control Panel — Programs — Hide programs control panel direct translation from my french version of Vista, sorry if it is not the exact terms in the english version. Enabling this group policy turns the "uninstall or modify a program" button into a "control panel" button, and this solves my problem as SteadyState denies its access.

Tuesday, November 27, AM. Thats all fine and good if windows lets you delete, or uninstall a program. What do you do when you are the only user, have administrative rights, and windows not only will not let you uninstall a program, but tells you you don't have the rights to make these changes?
