Enable developer tools excel 2010
Find each function by clicking on different tabs. The ribbon interface has abandoned the menus and toolbar style, and the functions in the former locations have been regrouped. For example, the Spelling function has been moved to the Review tab, and listed under the Proofing functions.
The Protection function has also been moved to the Review tab, and is listed under the Changes group. Click the Menus tab to experience the classic style interface and find the Tools menu easily.
Click the arrow next to the Tools to access the familiar functions from the dropdown menu. Brings the familiar classic menus and toolbars back to Microsoft Office , , , , and Supports all languages, and all new commands of , , , , and have been added into the classic interface. I have also installed a separate version of Outlook and I CAN enable the development tab for that.
Open Excel and then try to add the Developer tab and check if it displays on the ribbon. If the above method does not work then right click on Excel, click on Run as admin and then try to add the Developer tab to the ribbon and check the result.

What I am really trying to do is write an Excel Macro to perform a repetitive task, so it is darned frustrating to not be able to access the development tab.
I have spent a lot of time trawling the web assuming someone must have had the problem before. Have found surprisingly few instances, they all seem to be subtly different and the suggested fixes have not worked.
Very frustrating!
